Founded in 1986, the company began as Burwell Hay, primarily servicing financial services and packaged goods clients. For five years, the company Principal, Alastair Hay, taught marketing research in the Institute of Canadian Advertising's C.A.A.P. course. In those early years, a telephone field arm was added. The company was renamed Hay Research International in 2001 and since that time our data collection services have expanded to include a 50 station call centre in Toronto.
Today, the scale of Hay Research International's operations has substantially increased. In 2008, we moved to our new headquarter at Yonge and Eglinton in the heart of Toronto. HRI's reputation, originally established in financial services, has since expanded across a number of sectors. Today about one-third of our business is in the U.S.
We pride ourselves on the highly integrated nature of our operations. Our data collection services (both telephone and online), tabulation, statistical and modelling capabilities and our consulting arm all function as a cohesive unit. This kind of integration means a company-wide understanding of a project's goals and objectives which, in turn, yields dividends in data quality, project efficiency and project turnaround.
